Overview

The Quality RN Specialist assists in the performance of all hospital-wide Quality, Performance Improvement, Risk Management and Patient Safety activities as assigned by the Direction of Quality in accordance with external regulatory agency requirements, accepted standards of care, and internal standards for patient care delivery deemed by hospital leadership, in order to enhance quality of patient care, increase efficiency and minimize risk.

The Quality RN Specialist’s essential duties include, but are not limited to:

 

  1. Assists with Performance Improvement initiatives and meets strategic goals.
  2. Assists with mitigating risk and identifying regulatory violations that may be financial burdens to AHMC Seton Medical Center.
  3. Assists in ensuring Patient Safety by complying with regulations and The Joint Commission elements of performance through educating nursing leadership.
  4. Resolves incidents as assigned by the Director of Quality.

Quality Improvement:

The Quality RN Specialist assists in the completion of Quality Improvement (QI) studies through data collection, data input and report development.  Provides support for the Director of Quality, Risk and Patient Safety, in the planning and implementation of a systematic program for outcomes management and quality Improvement efforts at the hospital.

 

  1. Assists in the oversight of implementation of the Performance Improvement Plan and the Risk Management Program.
  2. Assists in the analysis and interpretation of data communicating trends and issues to the Director.
  3. Identified events necessitating Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and leads the facilitation of the RCA process.
  4. Assists with Patient Safety activities and issue resolution.
  5. Assists with the oversight for risk management activities and operations.
  6. Supports the Director of Quality, Risk Management and Patient Safety by analyzing and presenting quality, utilization and risk management reports.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's in science, health care, or related field. Required

Master's in science, health care, or related field. Preferred

 

Registered Nurse - RN Required

State Licensure – CA Required
