Overview

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the OB/Surgical Tech performs patient care activities in the care of the Obstetrical patients undergoing cesarean and vaginal deliveries. The OBT knows the objectives of the nursing department and supports these goals. This position requires providing care/service to a newborn through childbearing age in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual serviced. Provides clerical support and services to meet specific needs of a nursing unit. Participates in and coordinates telecommunications between nursing and all departments. Coordinates maintenance of office supplies and forms. Communicates effectively with all patient.  Answers call lights in a timely manner.  This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent

Knowledge of Medical Terminology

General clerical and computer knowledge

             Previous obstetrical services experience in same or similar capacity highly preferred

Bilingual (English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese) preferred

Surgical Tech Diploma, Surgical Tech Certificate or Current LVN (w/ OB exp.) - required

Current BLS required
