Overview

This position is responsible for providing patient care in a safe and effective manner. Responsibilities include directing PCA activity, synthesizing patient information, assessment of patients, planning of care/intervention, teaching of patients/family, implementation of treatment plan, MD orders, documentation and evaluation. Integration of patient care standards are incorporated into all clinical activities.

Responsibilities

  1. Consistently applies infection control policies/practices.
  2. Meets population/age specific competencies.
  3. Attends department specific education/training, inservices, and staff meetings.
  4. Department specific performance improvement project.
  5. Uses the Nursing Process as the framework for management of patient care.
  6. Provides leadership and clear direction to all members of the healthcare team.
  7. Provides for psycho-social, spiritual and cultural needs of the patients, family, and others.
  8. Provides for the education of patients, family, and others.
  9. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently provide care in emergency situations.
  10. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently administer medications, intravenous therapy, & basic fluid management.
  11. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently use equipment, supplies, & perform therapeutic/diagnostic interventions.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

One year acute care experience preferred
Basic computer skills preferred
Graduate of Registered Nurse School of Nursing; BSN preferred
Current CA Registered Nurse license
Current BLS-HCP & ACLS
Basic Dysrhythmia Class completion  
NIH Certification
