Is responsible for the overall work flow and service for Sterile Processing. Ensures all instruments, O.R., Labor & Delivery, and Housewide are cleaned sterilized and assembled following regulatory and hospital standards. Maintains high levels of service and quality to all hospital departments. Guides and educates Sterile Processing Technicians.
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. · Assists in the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives. |
· Provides supervisory and procedural guidance for Sterile Processing Technicians. |
· Provides input to the director of Peri-Operative Services for Sterile Processing employee education. |
· Reviews the Biological Monitoring log on a daily basis to ensure the proper recording of the daily test. |
· Ensures that the physical environment is clean, safe and attractive for the performance of daily tasks. Sees that monthly cleaning is done on his/her assigned shift. |
· Communicates to the Director all incidents, injuries and other information required for the safe, orderly and progressive activities of the department. |
· Demonstrates the ability to organize time, prioritize activities and solve problems. |
· Contributes to the creation and maintenance of a positive and motivating work climate by example and attitude on an ongoing basis. |
· Can perform all functions of a Sterile Processing Technician. |
· Undertakes projects as assigned and when required to assist the department in maximizing the use of its resources. |
· Interacts with other departments to resolve problems as they occur. |
· Attends meetings with and inservice as required and actively participates in assignments as an active member of the department. |
· Can assemble all O.R. and C.S. instrument trays and case carts. |
· Sends instruments for repair following hospital policy. |
· Orders instruments and supplies as required for Sterile Processing. |
· Performs other related duties as deemed necessary. |
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Knowledge of sterile processing, inventory and supply distribution required.
Two years experience in sterile processing required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Certification as a Central Service Technician required
