The LVN will assist the RN with nursing assessment of each patient by collecting data, and direct patient care under the supervision of the RN according to departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing intervention, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
Identifies patient care problems and communicates them to RN.
Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care.
Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure.
Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
Follows the hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the float LVN position in the division specific to the scope of service.
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team to facilitate the department’s/unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
Graduate of an accredited LVN program.
Pursues program of continuing education consistent with requirements of California license Board.
Maintain knowledge and skills related to Geriatric and ventilator dependent population.
Minimum 6 months experience within the last 2 years in general acute care, long term care and completion of ventilator education program with demonstrated competency and computer skills.
Basic computer knowledge is preferred
Current LVN license in State of California
Current BLS card
IV Certified
Aware of and follows hospital and department Policies and Procedures.
Practices good safety habits and reports safety issues and equipment failures appropriately.
Complies with Use of Standard Precautions in all patient contact.
Identify patient care problems and communicate with the RN.
Floats to other department as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of SubAcute.
