Demonstrates Accountability in GI Technician Role
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge and proficient practice by assisting the procedural physician in the various GI procedures performed at WHMC.
- Applies knowledge of advanced GI procedure techniques (ERCP's and G-Tube placement).
- Functions as a patient advocate throughout the procedure.
- Checks supplies and equipment needed for GI procedure.
- Anticipates the needs of the Physician by watching the progress of the procedure and understanding the various steps of the procedure.
- Properly labels and preserves specimens received during the surgical procedure according to WHMC policy and procedure.
- Maintains the highest level of technique during the procedure.
- Cleans endoscopes post procedure and has scopes ready for the next procedure.
- When not in the scrub role, gathers supplies for the following procedures.
- Assists the Procedural RN with duties that do not require nursing licensure.
- Assists with turnover of the procedural room.
- Transports the patient to the PACU with GI Lab RN.
- Orders, stocks and rotates supplies.
- Assumes call team responsibilities per WHMC policy and procedure.
