chedules, coordinates and monitors the day to day operational functions of all Laboratory sections except Microbiology.
Implements quality standards and provides oversight of section processes to achieve excellent outcome and quality
patient care. Performs Laboratory testing on patient and control samples, and/or prepares blood components for
transfusion. Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures. This knowledge includes
the use of specialized analytical instrumentation, clinical correlation of test results, quality control requirements, and
preventative maintenance. Maintains department readiness for regulatory inspections and compliance requirements.
Maintains department policy and procedure manuals in accordance with hospital policy. Is responsible for department
quality control records, instrument maintenance, regulatory agency compliance, and supply process. Participates in the
continuous quality improvement process through professional development, continuing education, data collection and
evaluation, and quality assurance. Develops and maintains orientation, training and competency tools and ensures compliance. Assists the Director in evaluating and documenting employee performance. Assists Director in the recruitment, hiring, termination and retention of employees. Coordinates staff development activities of section including education, competency completion, validation, and orientation. Participates in data collection and analysis as requested
by management. Maximizes efficiency in section operations. Exhibits willingness to resolve problems as they arise.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
1. Earned a doctoral or bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or
medical technology from an accredited institution.
2. Six years experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in an acute care laboratory with 4 years supervisory
experience preferred.
