  • Overview

    Provides basic nursing care and implements selected aspects of the patients nursing plan of care. This position requires providing care/service to an acutely ill through rehabilitating patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.

     

    • Allows for privacy and modesty in the provision of care.
    • Identifies self by name and title to patient/family.
    • Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
    • Reports suspected cases of abuse/neglect, if identified.
    • Understands role of, and how to access, the Bioethics Committee.
    • Incorporates cultural and ethnic factors into care.
    • Correctly differentiates between normal/abnormal findings.
    • Observes common/obvious physical and psycho-social conditions.
    • Notifies RN of changes in patient’s condition.
    • Implements delegated aspects of the nursing plan of care.
    • Maintains effective communication with the healthcare team.
    • Conducts/participates in therapeutic milieu activities.
    • Follows established protocols for patients at high risk for suicide or unpredictable behavior.
    • Follows protocols for patients at high risk for falls and skin breakdown.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High school graduate or equivalent.
    • Minimum of one (1) year experience in Psychiatric Nursing or Skilled Nursing Inpatient Facility.
    • Current CA Nursing Assistant Certification.
    • Current BLS certification.
    • MAB certification (trained within 6 months of hire).
    • Bilingual in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese (preferred)
