Monterey Park Hospital, located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, is a 101 bed acute care community hospital. Monterey Park Hospital is recruiting for a Registered Nurse for our Outpatient Surgery Department. This is a full time, 8 hour variable shift position. This position reports to the Director of Perioperative Services.
The Outpatient Surgery RN provides care, treatment, counseling and health education to the pre-and post-surgical patients. The Outpatient Surgery RN is responsible for the planning and coordination of care across the continuum. The Outpatient Surgery RN assumes leadership, responsibility and accountability for designated patients in the pre-operative, post-operative and post anesthesia phase II of their care. The Outpatient Surgery Unit provides ambulatory care for the patient undergoing surgical, non-surgical, and diagnostic procedures. The Outpatient RN conducts pre-admission interviews for patients before the day of admission, assessing and obtaining history and laboratory work. The pre-admission phase focuses on preparing patients physically and emotionally for their experience through interview, physical assessment and education. The post-anesthesia phase II, also done in the outpatient surgery area, focuses on preparing patients to care for themselves. The Registered Nurse demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care and consistently performs according to the standards of the profession. He/she demonstrates an ability to make clinical nursing judgments in an efficient and effective manner. He/she assumes ultimate responsibility and accountability in managing his/her patient care and in assisting others in the management of patient care.
One year acute care hospital experience in Med/Surg or Outpatient Surgery Department preferred. Current CA RN license and BLS required. ACLS and PALS required or within 2 months upon employment. BSN preferred.
