Monterey Park Hospital, located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, is searching for a Medical Staff Director for the Medical Staff Services Department. This position is full time and exempt. Monterey Park Hospital is a 101 bed acute care community hospital. Monterey Park Hospital has provided our community with advanced medical and culturally sensitive healthcare services for over 40 years. The RN provides care, treatment, counseling and health education to the hospitalized patient. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
The Medical Staff Director's primary role is to oversee the daily operations of the Medical Staff Services Department, maintaining effective and efficient systems to support the Medical Staff organization. He/she acts as a liaison between practitioners, Administration and other health disciplines. Accountable for establishing, contributing and implementation of standards applicable to medical staff members relating to credentialing, performance improvement and administrative functions. Complies with regulatory standards, providing consultative expertise to the Medical Staff and hospital leadership on options and permissible actions in order to meet those standards. Supervises the Credentials Coordinator in administering the medical staff services functions and holds him/her accountable for their respective responsibilities.
Bachelor’s degree in a health care related field or Certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services as a Certified Medical Staff Management Professional (CPMSM) and Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS). Minimum five (5) years' experience as a Medical Staff Director. Knowledge and understanding of medico/legal issues, State/Federal regulatory requirements, TJC and CMA accreditation standards. Strong working knowledge of the health care credentialing industry and privileging requirements; understanding of medical staff committee structure and peer review process. Must demonstrate understanding of the Medical Staff Organization’s responsibilities and its relation to the bylaws, rules and regulations that govern the organization, TJC standards, survey process, scoring guidelines, and laws relating to medical staff organizations. Proficient with medical staff data management systems, including dedicated Medical Staff programs.
