The Certified Nursing Assistant assists the clinical staff in the care of and treatment for patients in an acute care setting under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Responsibilities may vary based on department assignment.
Collect blood samples from all age groups including neonates. Responsible for front and back office procedures, computer entry, collect blood samples, do basic lab test processing, set-up Microbiology cultures. Be able to organize workload to work effectively in a fast paced setting and prioritize duties for routine and stat testing.
Functions as a leader in medical nutrition therapy, promoting wellness through optimal nutrition. Collaborates with physicians, nurses and other ancillary staff to provide optimal nutrition support. Functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team screening and/or assessing newly admitted patients/residents to identify those at nutrition risk.
