The Pediatric Registered Nurse provides quality patient care to patient group ranging in age from 2 to 15 years old. Functions with a focus on patient safety and customer service. Conducts patient assessment, participates plan of care, implements and evaluates care according to patient specific age and/or development needs. Works in a mix-unit, flexible to be cross trained and take medical surgical patient assignment as well.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the supervisor, collects all birth certificate information from parents, completes and registers all live births in accordance to rules and regulations set by the County of Los Angeles Health Department.
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of normal limits of vital signs and commonly used lab tests by recognizing abnormal findings and reports them to the RN. Under leadership of RN the LVN gathers data on patient’s physical and emotional needs. LVN gathers data on family psychological needs. Performs simple procedures skillfully (e.g. dressing changes, urinary catheterizations, tube irrigations). Participates in patient care plan conferences and in discharge planning.
