Overview

The Nursing Administrative Supervisor will act as an administrative representative on assigned shifts, be responsible for the effective management of patient care on assigned shifts, and contributes toward attainment of departmental and hospital goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Liaises with employees, medical staff, patients/families and the public.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves problems.
  • Interprets hospital policy.
  • Coordinates activities over all hospital departs.
  • Consults with appropriate manager to resolve problems in their areas.
  • Consults with Administrator on-call to resolve problems and notifies Administrator on-call of appropriate issues.
  • Coordinate the clinical and managerial activities for a specific shift utilizing the principles of participatory management.
  • Provides personnel to ensure adequate staffing in accordance with Matrix and Acuity standards.
  • Provides clinical resources as needed to the staff through direct clinical intervention or provision of appropriate clinical expertise.
  • Identifies learning needs of staff.
  • Provides input for staff evaluations.
  • Assumes responsibility of admitting nurses by effectively triaging patients to facilitate quality patient care.
  • Provides input for resolution of identified problems.
  • Maintains information flow regarding Nursing and hospital activities.
  • Completes all documentation and reports on a timely basis.
  • Participates in resolving interdepartmental and intradepartmental system problems.
  • Counsels employees in accordance with hospital policy and employment laws.
  • Participates in a Nursing or hospital committee and attends Supervisor’s Meeting.
  • Employee has the willingness and ability to perform additional duties and responsibilities in different areas of the department on an as-needed basis or as determined by management.
  • Communicates well with Director reporting problems with equipment, supplies, or procedures.
  • Demonstrates the philosophy of team concept.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum Education: Graduate of an Accredited RN program, BSN preferred
  2. Minimum of 5 years of Clinical Experience, 2 years of Administrative Supervisor experience preferred
  3. Required Certificates: Current RN license, BLS & ACLS certificates
