Overview

Performs general maintenance and repair services of the hospital’s physical plant; equipment, buildings and properties.  Duties may include one or more of the following areas:  mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, paint or HVAC.  May operate and maintain stationary gas and oil fired boilers and auxiliaries in supplying hot water and steam for other power generating purposes. 

Responsibilities

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of AHMC-Anaheim Regional Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the core values of AHMC- ARMC. The employee shall support AHMC- Anaheim Regional Medical Center’s strategic plan and goals and direction of the performance improvement plan.  The employee will also be expected to support all organizational expectations including, but not limited to; Customer Service, Patient’s Rights, Confidentiality of Information, Environment of Care and AHMC-ARMC initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent related experience preferred
  • Must have minimum of one year’s experience in construction, carpentry, plumbing, painting, or HV
  • Working knowledge in various mechanical hand held tools required in the performance of the trade.
  • Working knowledge of power equipment, drills, saws, pneumatic tools, compressor, airless sprays.
  • Working knowledge of pumps and pumping system.
  • Working knowledge of scaffolding and ladders.
  • Working knowledge of trucks and forklifts.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate effectively
  • Previous experience within the healthcare industry preferred
  • Basic computer skills preferred
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients, customers and associates in a way that exhibits superior integrated customer service and teamwork
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy while directing co-workers
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks effectively and efficiently

  • Ability to take initiative and follow through
  • Performs urgent corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems as required.
  • Assists in maintaining electrical wiring and emergency generators system.
  • Inspects and test equipment and systems as required.
  • Performs preventative maintenance duties to all physical structure of the hospital and complies with all building safety codes.
  • Assist in replacing, installing, repairing and testing; electrical circuits, equipment, appliances, lighting systems as required.
  • Maintains routine records of all inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs performed on any equipment or system.
  • Follows manufacture guidelines, interprets instructions and prepares specifications.
  • Work day, evening or night shift as assigned.
