Overview

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, assesses patient/family health problems and resources.  Assists in the development, implementation, and outcomes evaluation of a plan for nursing care provided by the nursing team. Provides technical nursing care and interventions to designated patient populations.

 

             This position requires providing care and/or service to a critically adult/ geriatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional and/or developmental age of the individual served.

 

            This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The                                employee shall support San Gabriel Valley Medical Center’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP). Finish

Responsibilities

·      Correctly differentiates between normal/abnormal findings; refers abnormal findings to the Registered Nurse.

·      Follows appropriate Code Blue notification procedures.

·      Effectively prioritizes clinical interventions and care.

·      Understands actions, side-effects, contra-indications of drugs.

·      Follows  “rights” of medication administration.

·      Adheres to medication policies, practices and standards.

·      Performs peripheral venipuncture according to policy and procedure.

·      Administers medications according to policy and procedure.

·         Basic hygiene and activity measures.

·         Routine pre/post-operative nursing care.

·         Urinary catheterization.

·         Nasogastric tube insertion.

·         Rectal tube insertion.

·         Oxygen administration.

·         Wound care.

·         Use of restraints.

·         Cardiac monitoring.

·         Management of traction.

·         Mechanical ventilation.

·         Arterial blood gas analysis.

·         Care/management of chest tubes.

·         Management of tracheostomy..

·         Handheld nebulizers.

·         Inhalant therapies

·         IV management and care

·         Participates in all regulatory education and survey activities.

·         Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 

Graduate of a LVN School of Nursing

Hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator experience preferred

Bilingual (English/Spanish/Vietnamese/Chinese) preferred

Current California LVN license

Current BLS Card

IV Therapy Certification within 90 days of hire
