Overview

JOB SUMMARY: Performs duties in support of and in compliance with the performance improvement plan, JCAHO and other licensing, accrediting and regulatory agencies. Is responsible for orientation, inservice education, and coordination of competency programs for assigned clinical service area.  Provides expert direction and support for clinical care while contributing to the setting of quality patient care standards and outcomes.   Supports the organization vision and mission.  Utilizes knowledge of patient's age, developmental status, spiritual and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care.  Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.  

 

The Labor and Delivery RN provides direct care, communicates with physicians / Nurse Director / Co – workers, as appropriate about changes in the patient’s clinical situation including results of diagnostic studies and is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in situation or response to treatment.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.

Education:  Master’s Degree in Nursing required.  Certification in specialty area preferred.

Current California RN license

              Current California CNS certificate

Proficient in oral and written communication skills. Ability to practice leadership, interpersonal skills, communication skills, teamwork, quality improvement and professionalism.

BCLS, NRP (AHA),NIHS Stroke Cert,  upon hire and maintain current.  Birth and Beyond Breastfeeding certificate within 6 months of hire

Proficiency in both written and oral English

              Minimum of 5 years of  L& D CNS certificate.
