Overview

Position Summary

 

Under general supervision, coordinates organizational and communication activities among staff, physicians, departments, patients and visitors for the assigned unit(s). Responsible for clerical functions, accurate maintenance of patient documentation including order entry and coordination of patient admission, transfer and discharge.

 

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of AHMC- Anaheim Regional Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the core values of AHMC- Anaheim Regional Medical Center and AHMC Healthcare Inc. The employee shall support AHMC-Anaheim Regional Medical Center’s strategic plan and goals and direction of the performance improvement plan. The employee will also be expected to support all organizational expectations including, but not limited to; Customer Service, Patient’s Rights, Confidentiality of Information, Environment of Care and other initiatives.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

  1. Consistently apply infection control policies/practices.
  2. Meet population specific competencies.
  3. Attend department specific education/training, inservices, and staff meetings.
  4. Participate in department specific performance improvement project.
  5. Facilitates communication activities between caregivers, departments, patients and visitors including prioritizing and triaging all incoming telephone calls according to organizational and unit expectations.
  6. Performs clerical activities including ensuring complete patient medical records and absolute accuracy of order entry.
  7. Updates Medact as necessary with new orders to ensure patients receiving correct test sequencing.
  8. Alerts nursing staff to stat or “now” orders.
  9. Maintains accurate daily census and other statistical information such as outpatient logs for appropriate units.
  10. Accountable to plan, order, stock all office and chart supplies necessary to effectively perform work.
  11. Interacts with visitors, patients, members of medical and nursing staff and other departments in courteous manner consistent with customer service goals.
  12. Answers call lights as needed.
  13. Attire and appearance will be professional at all times in accordance with hospital policy.
  14. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently respond and assist within scope of practice during urgent and emergent situations.
  15. Obtains non narcotic medications from pharmacy as requested by RN/Physicians in urgent/emergent situations.
  16. Maintain confidentiality of all records and information that pertains to patients, physicians, employees, the hospital, and its related interests.
  17. Perform special projects, other related work, and other duties as requested.
  18. Monitors and interprets accurately cardiac rhythms of patients on monitor. Informs licensed caregiver of dysrhythmia(s) as they occur.
  19. Maintains integrity of the telemetry system. Reports all malfunctions or needed adjustments of equipment..
  20. Ensures that all alarms are on at all times with appropriate parameters. Immediately reports to RN if patient is not on the monitor.
  21. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
• Successful completion of AHMC ARMC Basic Arrhythmia Exam within 30 days of entry to position.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
• Current BLS-HCP certification
