Overview

Monterey Park Hospital, located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles, is a 101 bed acute care community hospital providing our community with advanced medical and culturally sensitive healthcare services for over 50 years. Monterey Park Hospital is recruiting for a full time, day shift, Perioperative Services Supervisor for our Surgical Services Department. This position reports to the Director of Sugical Services.

Responsibilities

The Perioperative Services Supervisor assists the Director of Surgical Services and Charge RNs with recruiting and maintaining qualified and competent staff, orients and trains new staff, monitors staff performance, prepares performance evaluations, and demonstrates effective communication with staff and management. The Perioperative Services Supervisor supervises and acts as a resource for our OR, GI Lab and Sterile Processing Technicians.

 

The Perioperative Services Supervisor assists the Director with staff development by scheduling educational programs, training, coaching, mentoring and maintains staff education records.  The Supervisor ensures there is adequate staffing daily and ensures the Perioperative Service units have adequate supplies and equipment available and operational for surgical cases. The Supervisor holds staff accountable for doing their respective jobs. Additional duties include working with sales representatives and vendors and entering charges daily for Surgery, GI and Recovery Room.

Qualifications

Education:  Diploma from an accredited Surgical Tech Program required.  

 

Minimum Experience:

  • 3 years of prior supervisor experience in the Operating Room preferred or 3-5 years of Surgical Technician experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of decontamination and sterilization sciences, surgical supplies and surgical equipment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in problem solving with staff and management
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Required Certifications: 

 

  • Current Operating Room Technician Certification within 2 years of hire preferred.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) must be completed within 6 months of hire required.
