Overview

Responsible for the procurement of surgical supplies, equipment, and services requested by AHMC - Anaheim Regional Medical Center department of Perioperative Services (AHMC- ARMC).  Verifies that requisitions have proper administrative approvals.  Places orders with suppliers which offer the most favorable prices consistent with quality, quantity, service, and delivery time, and maintains accurate inventory records for the Surgery Department under the supervision of the Business Systems Manager of Perioperative Services.  Performs necessary follow-up between departments and vendors to accommodate the needs of AHMC- ARMC.  Performs transactions within AHMC- ARMC’s policies and procedures.

 

  • This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of AHMC- Anaheim Regional Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the core values. The employee shall support AHMC- Anaheim Regional Medical Center’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the performance improvement plan.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions                    

  1. Assists in safe, effective, fiscally responsible procurement and control of all surgical supplies.
  2. Expedites orders and communicates status to requesting department.
  3. Maintains appropriate par levels of all surgical supplies at all times.
  4. Ensures that all special order items for surgical cases are ordered and delivered on time.
  5. Assists departments with ECRI capital equipment quotations and price comparisons.
  6. Processes requests for item returns and/or repairs.
  7. Organizes and maintains computer data files and related documentation.

 

Qualifications

Education/Training/Experience                     

  • A Bachelor’s degree involving major study in Business Administration, Economics, or closely related field is desired.
  • Requires one to two years experience in a purchasing environment (medical and/or pharmaceutical preferred) with heavy emphasis on analyzing price and cost on a large assortment of products and services.
  • Requires a thorough understanding of purchasing methods and procedures, techniques of specification and contract writing, and purchasing laws.
  • Database and spreadsheet knowledge is essential.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with surgical instrumentation is preferred.
