Overview

The Licensed Vocational Nurse provides direct and indirect patient care services that meet the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care and meets the communication needs of the patient and family under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of normal limits of vital signs and commonly used lab tests by recognizing abnormal findings and reports them to the RN. Under leadership of RN the LVN gathers data on patient’s physical and emotional needs. LVN gathers data on family psychological needs. Performs simple procedures skillfully (e.g. dressing changes, urinary catheterizations, tube irrigations). Participates in patient care plan conferences and in discharge planning.

Qualifications

  1. Current BLS, ACLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  2. Minimum one year experience in an applicable setting preferred.
  3. Must have a current and valid license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse issued by the State.
  4. IV certification upon hire.
  5. LVN school certificate. Required.
