Overview

Monterey Park Hospital, located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, is recruiting for a Medical Laboratory Technician. The position is per diem, variable shifts. Monterey Park Hospital is a 101 bed acute care community hospital. Monterey Park Hospital has provided our community with advanced medical and culturally sensitive healthcare services for over 50 years.

Responsibilities

The Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing moderately complex and complex laboratory tests, as defined by CLIA, in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, and serology. California excludes MLT’s from microscopic testing and blood bank testing. Professional application of the principles, theories, techniques and quality controls of laboratory science are used. The Medical Laboratory Technician will Follow the hospital’s policies and procedures and documents their review. Ensure all daily QC (or as required, Levy-Jennings and Westgard Rules) are acceptable before releasing patient results. Perform and documents all maintenance, temperatures, specimen rejection and troubleshooting, and confirm schedules and completion of work, leaves little for the next shift. Maintain the inventory of supplies and reagents. Participate in the laboratories in-service and competency assessment programs. Help train and orient new team members.

Qualifications

Experience:

Minimum of 6 months MLT experience in at least 2 sections of an accredited hospital clinical laboratory - preferred

 

Licenses and Certifications:

Current CA Medical Laboratory Technician license - required

Current BLS certification (from American Heart Association) - required
