JOB SUMMARY: A clinically competent certified surgical technologist who works under the supervision of the registered nurse in delivering safe and effective care to the patient during the intraoperative period, interacts with patients and health care team members while mainlining the surgical department standards, scrubs all with appropriate handling of instruments and equipment for the surgeons.
OB/GYN technicians, sometimes called obstetric technicians (OBT), provide assistance during vaginal and C-section deliveries, and other procedures done in L&D. When OB techs aren't helping doctors deliver babies and keeping rooms prepared, they are helping patients and doing basic clerical duties. These clerical duties usually include ordering supplies for delivery and operating rooms, maintaining logs, pulling up patient information on computers, doing inventory and supporting the administrative duties as needed. OB techs help patients get ready for surgery by cleaning and transporting them to operating rooms or helping them out of the hospital when they are discharged. | |

3. Must have a current BCLS |
