JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Chief Engineer, directs the activities of Stationary Engineers and service contracts in the maintenance of the buildings, grounds, and related fixed and portable equipment, minor construction, and equipment installation.
POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES (other duties may be assigned)
1 Performs the necessary preventive maintenance and operations work orders.
2 Provide stock levels on all medical gases
3 Schedule all activities of the Stationary Engineers and inspect work performed and materials used. Evaluate daily all work orders and assess priorities and distribute them to responsible staff for action, monitor progress, and adjust resources to accommodate emergency maintenance requests.
4 Reviews incomplete work orders and informs requestor of schedule changes. Provides weekly reports to the Chief Engineer regarding any scheduled work delayed for parts, emergencies, or other reasons.
5 Schedule Engineers for regular workdays, holidays, and vacation relief.
6 Prepares labor and material purchase requisitions and distributes for approval
7 Schedules and assigns personnel for all preventive maintenance and repair of operations
8 Represents the department on committees related to safety and as directed by the Chief Engineer.
9 Maintain self-improvement program and keep abreast of new equipment, standards, codes maintenance procedures and emergency response regarding hazardous materials.
10 Perform on the job training of Stationary Engineers
11 Consistently maintain appearance that is appropriate, safe, and in accordance with department of Medical Center standards. Always display clean and visible identification.
12 Demonstrates commitment of quality of service
13 Complies with Departmental medical center and regional policies and procedures
14 Functions as team members
15 Maintains regular attendance in the work place

QUALIFICATIONS/JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
Successful completion of Local 39 Apprenticeship program or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
10 years engineering experience
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
Graduate apprentice journeyman card
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:
Must be a Local 39 active member
