Overview

Monterey Park Hospital, a 101-acute care facility located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, is seeking a Perioperative Coordinator for our Surgical Services Department. This is a full-time, 8-hour day shift position reporting to the Director of Surgical Services.

Responsibilities

The Perioperative Coordinator will provide administrative assistance for the Surgical Services Department such as answering phones, greeting, directing and providing information to patients, visitors and personnel from other departments. The Perioperative Coordinator will provide administrative assistance to the Surgical Services Director such as preparing and providing accurate reports, graphs and typing services as needed.  The Perioperative Coordinator will assist with surgery scheduling, demonstrating knowledge of block time; will communicate, collaborate and coordinate with the Charge Nurse on intra and inter departmental communications, present messages to the OR Team accurately and timely.  The Perioperative Coordinator will be accountable for Charges for Perioperative Services, reviews the Charge Master and assists with implementation of Charge protocol, and ensures through random audits, the accuracy of all post-care data reported to CPSI.  The Perioperative Coordinator will demonstrate an ability to work independently with minimal supervision, establishes priorities, organizes workload and completes tasks timely and will maintain confidentiality of patient health information and other Company business at all times. There may be other duties as assigned by the Director or management.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum 3 years experience in an administrative role in a hospital setting preferred, 1 year of surgery department experience preferred. 
  2. Current BLS (AHA) required. 
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills, clinical knowledge required. Advance computer skills with extensive knowledge of Google Software and proficiency on Word and Excel required. 60 wpm typing skills required. Exhibits excellent customer services to staff, physicians, and co-workers, shows courtesy, compassion and respect, conforms to the critical services standards established by the department and hospital.
