Educates mothers and families to give information, initiates and maintains lactation, overcome obstacles, prevents premature weaning and enhance maternal role satisfaction. Works with the Coordinator to implement community education classes, support groups, etc. to pregnant and postpartum families. Areas of responsibility include participating in the multidisciplinary health team approach, providing comprehensive and thorough instruction and support to meet the identified needs of the client and their families.
A minimum of 1 year of perinatal experience
Must have viewed a minimum of 5 births (not including your own), in a hospital setting
Current CA RN license
Current Childbirth Educator Certificate
Other certificates possible: Certified Lactation educator; BLS instructor.
Current Healthcare Provider CPR
