JOB SUMMARY: The Infection Preventionist is responsible for coordinating the activities of the facility’s infection prevention and control program by assuming direct responsibility for infection surveillance, infection reporting, and provision of infection prevention and control technical support and education for the facility staff.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
- RN license from an accredited professional nursing program required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Continuing education in infection prevention and control related topics required.
- A minimum of three- (3) years of experience as a nurse in an acute care health-care facility preferred.
- CIC preferred.
- Currently licensed to practice by the CA State Board of Nursing. Must have a valid driver's license.
- Thorough knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and state/federal regulatory requirements. APIC certification preferred.
- Documentation of ongoing CEUs or other infection prevention and control related training required.
- Current (BCLS).American Heart Association, NIHS Stroke certification and maintain.
