Postpartum nurses are responsible for providing care to women who have recently given birth either Vaginal or via Caesarean Section. The Nurses are involved in helping new mothers learn how to breastfeed their babies, assisting with maternal hygiene post-delivery, caesarian section recovery, assisting with all newborn tasks. Postpartum nurses must be able to multitask. They also need strong skills so that they can communicate clearly with both patients and medical professionals.
Postpartum nurses have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
- Observing the newborns for signs of distress, illness, and overall fetal well-being
- Providing newborn care such as bathing, dressing, and weighing the baby
- Teaching new mothers about infant nutrition, sleep patterns, safety concerns, feeding ques and other topics related to parenting
- Monitoring mothers’ physical health during postpartum care, including taking vital signs , measuring fundal height and tone, monitoring Maternal bleeding, assessing for Postpartum depression
- Providing support to mothers who are experiencing anxiety, stress, or other mental health issues related to pregnancy or parenting
- Providing emotional support to new parents
- Discharge education

The Clinical Manager of the ER will consistently practice excellent nursing skills and professionalism. He/She will assist the director with the coordination of the unit functions, demonstrate adequate leadership skills, and be proficient in patient assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation of care provided. Under general supervision and medical direction, ensures prompt, efficient and accurate performance of laboratory testing services within assigned laboratory section. Responsible for one department /shift of the laboratory. Directs activity and reporting of test results performed by non-licensed personnel. Is capable of performing all the duties of a Medical Technologist II. Consults personnel for technical errors in the department/shift he/she is responsible for.
Performs general maintenance and repair services of the hospital’s physical plant; equipment, buildings and properties. Duties may include one or more of the following areas: mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, paint or HVAC. May operate and maintain stationary gas and oil fired boilers and auxiliaries in supplying hot water and steam for other power generating purposes.
The RN Case Manager uses MCG criteria to evaluate the appropriateness of admissions, concurrent stay and readiness for discharge. She/he assures correct level of care: critical, telemetry, acute, observation, for all patients.
