Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the OB/Surgical Tech performs patient care activities in the care of the Obstetrical Services patients undergoing cesarean and vaginal deliveries. The OBT knows the philosophy and objectives of the nursing department and supports these premises.
This position requires providing care/service to a newborn through childbearing age in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual serviced.
Provides clerical support and services to meet specific needs of a nursing unit. Participates in and coordinates telecommunications between nursing and all departments. Is responsible for preparing, compiling and maintaining patient records. Coordinates maintenance of office supplies and forms PAR levels and nurse’s station. Communicates effectively with all customers and assures accurate maintenance of a patient’s medical record. Answers call lights in a timely manner. Transcribes orders efficiently/accurately.
