JOB SUMMARY:
Pharmacists are providers of pharmaceutical care and are concerned with the outcomes of their services and not just the provision of these services. These include leadership and practice management, drug information and education, activities to ensure rational medication therapy, drug distribution and control, maintaining a professional workspace, and participation in drug therapy research.
Under general supervision and medical direction, ensures prompt, efficient and accurate performance of laboratory testing services within assigned laboratory section. Responsible for one department /shift of the laboratory. Directs activity and reporting of test results performed by non-licensed personnel. Is capable of performing all the duties of a Medical Technologist II. Consults personnel for technical errors in the department/shift he/she is responsible for.
Provides basic patient care, assists with procedure, performs phlebotomy duties under the CPT1 certificate requirements, transports patients interdepartmentally and maintains equipment and supplies in the Emergency Department. The technician works under the direction of the licensed nurse, physician assistant, or physician.
