JOB SUMMARY: The Certified Nurse Assistant, reporting to the Nursing Unit Director, with assignment and direction from the Registered Nurse &/or LVN. This position is directly responsible for the delivery of high quality individualized basic nursing care. The Nursing Assistant supports the hospital mission and vision. The Nurse Assistant utilizes knowledge of patient’s age, developmental status, spiritual and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. The position contributes to the provision of safety and quality nursing care that results in positive outcomes in patient care.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
- Completion of Nursing Assistant Course Certificate, Current certification for Nurse Aide (C.N.A.).
- High School Graduate or equivalent experience preferred
- Six months acute hospital experience preferred.
- Current BCLS Card AHA
Acts as a patient advocate/case manager to hospital clients. An autonomous role that coordinates, negotiates, procures services and resources for, and manages the care of complex patients to facilitate achievement of quality and cost efficient patient outcomes. The position also consists of assisting the director in the daily operations of the department.
Looks for opportunities to reduce cost while ensuring the highest quality of care is maintained. Applies review criteria to determine medical necessity for admission and continued stay. Provides clinically based case management, discharge planning, and care coordination to facilitate the delivery of quality healthcare and assists in the identification
of appropriate utilization of resources across the continuum of care. Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff internal and external to the organization. Participates in quality improvement and evaluation processes related to the management of patient care.
The Nursery Registered Nurse provides care, treatment, counseling and health education to the obstetrical patient. The RN is responsible for planning and coordination of care across the continuum. This planning and coordination includes meeting and exceeding compliance with core measures, contributes to reduction in LOS, active participation with all aspects of quality, safety and performance improvement activities, collaboration with all the members of the multidisciplinary team in providing outstanding customer service to patients, family members, physicians and the public. Meets and exceeds the Department of Health Service (DHS). The Joint Commission (TJC) and other regulatory requirements. Qualifications: One year acute care experience preferred.
